Psychical activity has time and and time again been proven a key factor in children’s development and learning ability. This, as well as an increase in obesity amongst children, were the two primary reasons to introduce a compulsory 45 minutes of daily physical activity for Danish children age 6 to 15. This rule was introduced with a reformation of the state schools in 2014.

Physical activity may help kids do better in schoolThis article from The Washington Post (Oct 21, 2013) talk about the correlation between physical activity, sociality and learning new skills. It also talks about how 60 minutes of moderate to vigorious activity every day help to battle obesity.
This American study from 2015 shows how children who are physically active on a moderate to vigorious level for 70 minutes every weekday has - amongst other findings - an increased working memory. The study worked with 20 children divided into a research group and a control group.
